? What is Vidya and What is it Used For?
Vidya is used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes, especially when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient to control blood sugar levels.
- It helps regulate blood glucose levels.
- Your doctor may prescribe Vidya alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medications such as metformin, sulfonylurea, glitazone, or insulin if previous treatments were not effective enough.
? Dosage and Administration
? Recommended Dosage:
- 50 mg once daily in the morning if taken with sulfonylurea.
- 100 mg daily (50 mg in the morning and 50 mg in the evening) if taken alone or with metformin, glitazone, a combination of metformin and sulfonylurea, or insulin.
- 50 mg once daily (morning) for patients with moderate or severe kidney disease or those undergoing dialysis.
✅ How to Take Vidya:
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
⏳ Duration of Treatment:
- Take Vidya daily for as long as your doctor prescribes.
- This treatment may be long-term, and your doctor will regularly monitor your condition to ensure effectiveness.
⚠️ Warnings and Precautions
Before taking Vidya, inform your doctor if you:
- Have type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Are taking sulfonylurea, as your doctor may need to reduce its dosage to prevent hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
- Have moderate or severe kidney disease or are on dialysis.
- Have liver disease.
- Suffer from heart failure.
- Have a history of pancreatic disease.
- Have previously discontinued vildagliptin due to liver issues—in this case, you should not take this medication.
