Metformin Hydrochloride
? Metformin Hydrochloride is used to treat Type 2 diabetes (also called non-insulin dependent diabetes) when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control blood glucose levels. ? It is used in patients with overweight.
? You are allergic to Metformin Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients. ? You have liver problems. ? You have severe kidney failure. ? You have uncontrolled diabetes, such as extremely high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid weight loss. ? You have a serious infection (e.g., lung, kidney infection). ? You are being treated for acute heart failure, recently had a heart attack, or have serious circulatory problems. ? You drink large amounts of alcohol.
? Risk of Lactic Acidosis: Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis, especially if you have kidney problems, uncontrolled diabetes, severe infections, liver problems, or dehydration. ? Stop taking and seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms of lactic acidosis (vomiting, stomach pain, muscle cramps, fatigue, difficulty breathing, low body temperature, irregular heartbeat).
? Risk of Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar): When taken with other diabetes medications, Metformin can cause low blood sugar. ⚠️ Symptoms of hypoglycemia include weakness, dizziness, sweating, rapid heartbeat, vision problems, or difficulty concentrating. Eating or drinking something with sugar can help.
