Metformin Hydrochloride - Uses and Warnings
Metformin Hydrochloride is used to treat type 2 diabetes (also called non-insulin dependent diabetes) when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient to control blood sugar levels.
It is also used in patients who are overweight.
? You are allergic to Metformin Hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients in this medication.
? If you have liver problems.
? If you suffer from severe kidney failure.
? If you have uncontrolled diabetes, such as very high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rapid weight loss.
? If you have severe inflammation, such as inflammation of the lungs, airways, or kidneys.
? If you are being treated for acute heart failure, have recently had a heart attack, have serious circulation problems, or have breathing difficulties.
? If you drink a lot of alcohol.
⚠️ Risk of lactic acidosis:
Metformin Hydrochloride can rarely cause a very serious side effect called lactic acidosis, especially if kidneys are not functioning properly, or if you have uncontrolled diabetes, severe infections, liver problems, or dehydration.
Stop taking Metformin Hydrochloride and contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you experience any signs of lactic acidosis, as it can lead to coma.
