Dulaglutide is used to lower blood sugar (glucose) levels in adults with type 2 diabetes and may help prevent heart disease.
2. Contraindications ?
Do not use Dulaglutide if you are allergic to Dulaglutide or any of its ingredients.
3. Warnings and Precautions ⚠
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Dulaglutide if you:
- Are undergoing dialysis, as this medication is not recommended.
- Have type 1 diabetes (a condition where your body produces no insulin), as this medication may not be suitable for you.
- Have diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Have severe digestive issues or delayed stomach emptying (including gastroparesis).
- Have a history of pancreatitis, which causes severe abdominal and back pain that does not go away.
- Are taking sulfonylureas or insulin for diabetes, as this may lead to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Your doctor may need to adjust your dose of these medications to reduce the risk.
⚠ Note: Dulaglutide is not insulin and should not be used as a substitute for insulin.
4. Potential Side Effects ⚠
Stop using Dulaglutide and seek medical attention immediately if you experience:
- Throat tightness or swelling in the eyes, face, lips, or tongue.
- Feeling faint or having difficulty breathing.
- Hives or itching on the face or body.
5. Drug Interactions ?
Dulaglutide may slow stomach emptying, which can affect the absorption of other medications. Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking or plan to take.
6. Dosage and Administration ?
- The recommended starting dose is 0.75 mg once a week if used alone.
- If taken with other diabetes medications, your doctor may prescribe 1.5 mg once a week.
- If blood sugar control is inadequate, the dose may be increased to 3 mg once a week.
- If further control is needed, the dose may be increased to 4.5 mg once a week.
? Pen Information:
- Each pen contains a single dose of Dulaglutide.
- It can be used at any time of the day, with or without food.
- It is recommended to use it on the same day each week if possible.
7. Storage Instructions ?
- Keep this medication out of reach of children.
- Do not use it after the expiration date printed on the pen and packaging.
- Store in a refrigerator (2°C - 8°C / 36°F - 46°F). Do not freeze.
- Keep it in the original packaging to protect it from light.
- Dulaglutide can be stored outside the refrigerator for up to 14 days at temperatures not exceeding 30°C (86°F).
- Do not use this medication if the pen is damaged, or if the solution appears cloudy, discolored, or contains particles.
