Sitagliptin 100 mg Film-Coated Tablets

Why is Sitagliptin Used?

Sitagliptin helps increase insulin levels produced by the body after eating and reduces the amount of sugar produced by the body.
Your doctor prescribed this medicine to help lower high blood sugar levels due to type 2 diabetes.
It can be used alone or in combination with other diabetes medications (insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or glitazones), which you may already be taking, alongside a diet and exercise plan.

Do Not Use Sitagliptin

❌ If you are allergic to sitagliptin or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.

Warnings and Precautions

⚠️ Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) has been reported in some patients.
⚠️ If you experience skin ulcers, it may be a sign of a condition called bullous pemphigoid. Your doctor may ask you to stop using it.
⚠️ Tell your doctor if you have or have had:

  • Pancreatic disease (e.g., pancreatitis)
  • Gallstones, alcohol addiction, or very high triglycerides
  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis (high blood sugar, rapid weight loss, nausea or vomiting)
  • Any kidney problems
  • Allergic reactions

Possible Side Effects

❗ Stop using this medicine and seek immediate medical care if you experience:

  • Throat tightness
  • Swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  • Feeling faint or trouble breathing
    ❗ Stop the medicine if you have hives or itching on the face or body.

Other Medications and Sitagliptin

? Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines.
? If you are taking digoxin (a drug for irregular heartbeats and other heart conditions), your doctor may need to check your digoxin blood levels.

How to Use Sitagliptin

? The recommended usual dose is:

  • 1 film-coated tablet (100 mg) once daily, taken orally.
  • If you have kidney issues, your doctor may prescribe lower doses (e.g., 25 mg or 50 mg).
  • You can take this medicine with or without food or drink.

How to Store Sitagliptin

? Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
❗ Do not use this medicine after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
? Store in a normal environment; no special storage conditions are required.
