Glibenclamide / Metformin Hydrochloride 2.5 mg / 500 mg Tablets
? Why is it used?
- ✅ Lowers blood sugar levels in Type 2 Diabetes (non-insulin-dependent) as an adjunct to a healthy diet and exercise.
? Do not take this medication if you:
- ❌ Are allergic to Glibenclamide, Metformin, sulfonylureas, sulfonamides, or any other ingredient in this medication.
- ❌ Have Type 1 Diabetes.
- ❌ Suffer from diabetic ketoacidosis.
- ❌ Have severe liver or kidney problems.
- ❌ Are dehydrated, have a severe infection, or heart failure.
- ❌ Drink excessive alcohol or take Bosentan for high blood pressure.
⚠️ Precautions
- ? Inform your doctor if you have:
- Liver or kidney issues.
- Heart disease.
- Recovering from injury, surgery, or an infection.
- G6PD deficiency.
- May cause lactic acidosis, especially with kidney problems. Symptoms include abdominal pain, vomiting, muscle cramps, fatigue, and difficulty breathing.
- May cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) if you skip meals, over-exercise, or drink alcohol.

? How to take Glibenclamide / Metformin Hydrochloride

- ? Usual starting dose: Glibenclamide 1.25 - 2.5 mg / Metformin 500 - 1000 mg, once or twice daily.
