Sitagliptin / Metformin 50 mg / 1000 mg Film-Coated Tablets

Why is it used?
? Contains two active ingredients: Sitagliptin & Metformin.
? Sitagliptin belongs to DPP-4 inhibitors (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors).
? Metformin belongs to biguanides.
? How it works:
✔️ Increases insulin production after meals.
✔️ Reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver.
✔️ Helps control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

? Do not take Sitagliptin / Metformin if you:
❌ Are allergic to Sitagliptin, Metformin, or any other ingredient.
❌ Have severe kidney problems.
❌ Have uncontrolled diabetes (severe high blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss, lactic acidosis, or diabetic ketoacidosis).
❌ Have a severe infection or dehydration.
❌ Need an X-ray with contrast injection (stop taking it on the day of the procedure and for at least 2 days after).
❌ Have had a recent heart attack, serious circulatory problems, or breathing difficulties.
❌ Have liver disease.
Consume alcohol excessively.
❌ Are breastfeeding.

? Warnings & Precautions
⚠️ Risk of pancreatitis: Report any severe abdominal pain to your doctor.
⚠️ Blistering skin condition (bullous pemphigoid): Consult your doctor if you notice any skin sores.
⚠️ Risk of lactic acidosis (serious condition due to excess lactic acid):
✔️ Inform your doctor if you have or had pancreatitis, gallstones, alcohol addiction, or high triglycerides.
✔️ Do not use it for type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent).
✔️ If taking sulfonylureas or insulin, dosage adjustments may be needed.

? Possible Side Effects
⚠️ Seek immediate medical help if you experience:
? Severe allergic reactions (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, breathing difficulty, fainting).
? Skin rash or itching.

? Drug Interactions
⚠️ Inform your doctor if you are taking:
✔️ Steroids (for asthma, arthritis, inflammation).
✔️ Diuretics (increase urine production).
✔️ Painkillers & anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, COX-2 inhibitors like ibuprofen, celecoxib).
✔️ Blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers).
✔️ Beta-sympathomimetics (for asthma).
✔️ Iodine contrast agents (used in X-ray procedures).
✔️ Stomach medications (e.g., cimetidine).
✔️ Ranolazine (for angina), Dolutegravir (for HIV), Vandetanib (for cancer).
