? Indications
Used in adults (18 years and older) with type 2 diabetes, where the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use it properly, leading to high blood sugar levels.
? Do Not Use If
- You are allergic to dapagliflozin or any other ingredient in this medication.
⚠ Warnings & Precautions
? Seek medical help immediately if you experience:
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, extreme thirst, rapid deep breathing, confusion, unusual fatigue, sweet breath odor, metallic taste, different urine or sweat odor, or rapid weight loss.
- These symptoms may indicate diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a potentially life-threatening condition caused by excess ketones in urine or blood.
- DKA risk increases with prolonged fasting, excessive alcohol intake, dehydration, sudden insulin dose reduction, or major surgery/illness.
- DKA can occur even if blood sugar levels are normal.
? Possible Side Effects
Stop using and seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
- Throat tightness, facial/lip/tongue swelling, fainting, difficulty breathing, hives, or itching.
? Drug Interactions
Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medications, especially:
- Diuretics (water pills): Your doctor may adjust your dose.
- Insulin or sulfonylureas: Your doctor may lower their dose to prevent hypoglycemia.
? How to Take
- For type 2 diabetes: Recommended dose is one 10 mg tablet daily.
- If you have liver problems, your doctor may start you on 5 mg daily.
- Take with or without food, at the same time each day for best results.
- Swallow whole with water.
