Dabagliflozin is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults (18 years and above), where the body either does not produce enough insulin or cannot use the insulin it produces effectively, leading to high blood sugar levels.
? Contraindications
Do not use Dabagliflozin if you are allergic to Dabagliflozin or any of its other ingredients.
⚠️ Warnings & Precautions
Seek medical help immediately if you experience:
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, excessive thirst, rapid and deep breathing, confusion, unusual drowsiness, fatigue, sweet-smelling breath, sweet or metallic taste, or rapid weight loss.
- These symptoms may indicate diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious, life-threatening condition that can occur with type 2 diabetes.
- The risk of diabetic ketoacidosis may increase with fasting, excessive alcohol consumption, dehydration, sudden insulin dose reduction, or increased insulin needs due to surgery or serious illness.
- Diabetic ketoacidosis can occur even if your blood sugar is normal.
If you suspect diabetic ketoacidosis, contact your doctor or hospital immediately and do not continue taking this medication.
? Dosage & Usage
- The recommended dosage for type 2 diabetes is one 10 mg tablet daily.
- If you have liver issues, your doctor may start you on a 5 mg dose.
- Take the tablet with half a cup of water, with or without food, at any time of the day.
- Try to take the tablet at the same time each day to help you remember.
? Drug Interactions
- Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, especially:
- Diuretics (water pills) – Your doctor may ask you to stop taking Dabagliflozin.
- Other diabetes medications (e.g., insulin or sulfonylureas) – Your doctor may adjust the dosage to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

- Store in a cool, dry place and keep out of reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiration date printed on the packaging.
- Dispose of medications properly and not via household waste or sewage.
