Dapagliflozin

? Indications
Dapagliflozin is used to treat Type 2 Diabetes, a condition where the body either does not produce enough insulin or is unable to use the insulin produced effectively, leading to high blood sugar levels.
? Contraindications
Do not use Dapagliflozin if you:
- Are allergic to Dapagliflozin or any of its components.
⚠ Warnings and Precautions
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
- Nausea, illness, stomach pain, extreme thirst, rapid and deep breathing, confusion, drowsiness, unusual fatigue, sweet-smelling breath, sweet or metallic taste in your mouth, or unusual odor in your urine or sweat, or rapid weight loss.
These symptoms may be signs of Diabetic Ketoacidosis, a life-threatening issue related to the accumulation of ketone bodies in the blood or urine. - Diabetic Ketoacidosis can develop even if your blood sugar levels are normal and can occur with prolonged fasting, excessive alcohol intake, dehydration, a sudden reduction in insulin dosage, or increased insulin needs due to surgery or illness.
- If you suspect Diabetic Ketoacidosis, contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately and do not take this medicine.
? Possible Side Effects
- Stop taking this medication and seek immediate medical attention if you experience throat tightness, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
- Discontinue use if you experience hives or itching on the face or body.
? Other Medications and Dapagliflozin
Inform your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you are taking, recently took, or plan to take any other medicines, particularly:
- Diuretics (water pills).
Your doctor may advise stopping Dapagliflozin if you are on this medication. - If you are on other medications for Type 2 Diabetes, such as insulin or Sulfonylureas, your doctor may need to adjust the dosage to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
? How to Use Dapagliflozin
- The recommended dose is 1 tablet of 10 mg daily.
- Your doctor may start with 5 mg if you have liver problems.
- Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water.
- You can take the tablet with or without food.
- Take it at the same time every day to help remember.
? How to Store Dapagliflozin
- Keep Dapagliflozin out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiration date printed on the tablet strip or carton after "EXP".
- The expiration date refers to the last day of the month.
- No special storage conditions are required for this medication.
- Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater or household waste.
