? Why Dapagliflozin is Used
Dapagliflozin is used in adults (18 years and older) for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, where the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot properly use the insulin it produces. This leads to high blood sugar levels.

If you are allergic to dapagliflozin or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.

Contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
- Nausea or feeling unwell
- Stomach pain
- Excessive thirst or rapid, deep breathing
- Confusion, unusual drowsiness, or fatigue
- Sweet-smelling breath or a sweet or metallic taste in your mouth
- Unusual smell in your urine or sweat, or rapid weight loss
These symptoms could indicate diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious, life-threatening condition caused by an increase in "ketone bodies" in the blood or urine, which can be detected in tests.
The risk of diabetic ketoacidosis may increase with prolonged fasting, excessive alcohol consumption, dehydration, sudden reduction in insulin dose, or major surgery or illness.
If you suspect you have diabetic ketoacidosis, stop using this medicine and seek immediate medical care.
? Potential Side Effects
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical care if you experience:
- Throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
- Fainting or difficulty breathing
- Hives or itching on the face or body
? Other Medicines and Dapagliflozin
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines, especially:
- Diuretics (water pills): Your doctor may ask you to stop taking dapagliflozin.
- Other medicines to lower blood sugar such as insulin or "sulfonylureas." Your doctor may want to lower the dose of these other medicines to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
? How to Use Dapagliflozin
- The recommended dose is one 10 mg tablet daily.
- Your doctor may start you on 5 mg if you have liver problems.
- Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water.
- You can take this medicine with or without food.
- Try to take it at the same time every day to help remember.
