Gliclazide 30 mg Extended-Release Tablets

?️ Product Description

Gliclazide is used to lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent) as an addition to a healthy diet and regular physical activity.

? Do Not Take Gliclazide

  • If you are allergic to Gliclazide, other sulfonylureas, sulfonamides, or any other components of this medication.
  • If you have type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent diabetes).
  • If you have diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where blood sugar levels are very high and you experience nausea, frequent urination, fatigue, and muscle weakness).
  • If you are in diabetic coma.
  • If you have severe liver problems.
  • If you have kidney problems.
  • If you have porphyria (a hereditary disease that affects the liver or bone marrow).
  • If you are taking the antifungal medication Miconazole.
  • If you are breastfeeding.

⚠️ Warnings & Precautions

Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you have:

  • If you are recovering from injury, surgery, infection, fever, or other forms of stress.
  • If you have liver or kidney problems.
  • If you have a deficiency in the enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD).

This medication may cause low blood sugar levels, especially if you miss a meal, exercise excessively, or drink alcohol. Symptoms of low blood sugar include nausea, hunger, shaking, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, difficulty speaking, and sweating. You may need to consume sugar cubes or some juice.

⚠️ Potential Side Effects

Stop using this medication and seek immediate medical attention if you experience:

  • Skin rash, itching, redness, blistering, or peeling;
  • Chest or throat tightness, difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking;
  • Unusual hoarseness, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
    The frequency of these side effects is not known.

? How to Take Gliclazide

  • This medication is for adults only.
  • Take Gliclazide exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Take it with food, preferably with your first meal of the day.
  • Extended-release tablets: The recommended starting dose is 30 mg once daily with breakfast. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose to a maximum of 120 mg daily.
  • Modified-release tablets: The recommended starting dose is 40 - 80 mg once daily with breakfast. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose to a maximum of 320 mg daily, divided into two doses.

? How to Store Gliclazide

  • Store at room temperature (20 to 25°C / 68 to 77°F).
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiration date on the packaging.
