? What is Glyclazide and What is it Used For?
Glyclazide is used to lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent) as an addition to a healthy diet and exercise.
? Do Not Take Glyclazide If:
- You are allergic to Glyclazide, other sulfonylureas, sulfonamides, or any of its components.
- You have type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent).
- You have diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where blood sugar levels are very high and you experience symptoms such as nausea, frequent urination, tiredness, and muscle weakness).
- You are in diabetic coma.
- You have severe liver problems.
- You have kidney problems.
- You have porphyria (a genetic disorder affecting the liver or bone marrow).
- You are taking the antifungal Miconazole.
- You are breastfeeding.
⚠️ Warnings and Precautions
Inform your doctor about all your health conditions, especially if you:
- Are recovering from an injury, surgery, infection with fever, or any other forms of stress.
- Have liver or kidney problems.
- Have a deficiency in an enzyme called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD).
- Hypoglycemia may occur, especially if you miss a meal, exercise excessively, or drink alcohol. Symptoms of low blood sugar include nausea, hunger, shaking, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, difficulty speaking, and sweating. You can take a sugar cube or some juice to raise your blood sugar.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following:
- Skin rash, itching, red or blistered, or peeling skin.
- Chest tightness or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
- Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, especially:
- Medications for high blood pressure.
- Medications for heart arrhythmias.
- Medications to lower cholesterol.
- Medications for mood disorders.
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
- Certain antibiotics.
- Antifungals.
- Corticosteroids.
- Oral contraceptives.
- Anticoagulants like warfarin.
- Danazol.
- Cimetidine.
? How to Take Glyclazide
- This medication is intended for adults only.
- Take as prescribed by your doctor.
- Take with food, with the first meal of the day.
- Extended-release tablets: The starting dose is usually 30 mg once daily with breakfast, which may be gradually increased to a maximum of 120 mg daily.
- Modified-release tablets: The starting dose is usually 40-80 mg once daily with breakfast, which may be gradually increased to a maximum of 320 mg daily, divided into two doses.

- Store at room temperature (20-25°C / 68-77°F).
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the packaging.
